Module 3: JobScout

What is JobScout?

JobScout is a website. The website is at The website teaches you how to use the Internet or Web by playing games, taking short lessons and earning badges! You will also learn how to use the Web to find a job.  If you would like a fuller story of what JobScout is please read JobScout’s story at

Sign up for an account!

To sign up for an account all you do is click the blue “Sign Up Now” button found on JobScout’s homepage.


Here you will pick a Name which you will use to log into the website next time you visit.
TIP: Don’t forget the Name you use.
You will be asked some basic questions about yourself, just follow the steps and you will be all set to use JobScout!


The Dashboard

After you have an account you will next see a long page with a lot of information, this page is your dashboard. Your Dashboard lets you go to lessons, change your account settings and see your earned badges!
Here is what your Dashboard looks like.


Using JobScout

JobScout has a 10 minute lesson on how to use JobScout!


Just click on “How to Use JobScout” from your Dashboard to get started with the lesson.
After you have done the “How to Use JobScout” lesson you will get a badge like this one:


Very COOL!
When you are ready to take more lessons just click on a lesson section.
Try “Finding Work Online

Then click on a lesson.

TIP: You may want to take the lessons in order from the top of the list to the bottom.


Leaving JobScout

When you are ready to sign out of JobScout just click the big red “Sign Out” button at the bottom of your Dashboard.

Returning to JobScout

Did you remember the TIP from the first step, Sign up for an account!, you will need to remember the name you use.
When you return to JobScout you will sign in by typing your chosen Name in the box that says “Already have and account? Sign in here” then click on the “Sign In” button.


Now you can get back to your Dashboard and do more lessons.

    Great module and great resource – especially for those just starting the job hunting experience. Great tutorials and lessons and I especially LOVED earning those badges.

    I tutor a young Latina mother who loved this page!! My two other students have not reached this level yet.

    As for myself, I think it is a welcome and important part of the website. Thank you for including it.
